This is probably because they have either paid for subscribers which is against YouTube terms of service or they have deleted their content and are starting their channel again.
A lot of people these days buy large channels this could also be an indicator for why this channel has so many subscribers!
Also if you watch the video he explains that he used to do vines compilations those channels also get quite a lot of subscribers and it appears that he is starting again with his channel.

The reason for this is already explained by Perrie but this is also what a channel would look like who bought subscribers or does Sub4Sub.
It's probably one of these reasons:
- He's content doesn't appeal to all his subscribers.
- A lot of them are bots
- Sub for sub
- People aren't bothered to watch his content anymore.
- People have just subscribed for the sake of it.
- SEO isn't good.
- He doesn't check the send to all subscribers box in his settings so they don't get videos by email.
