So i am wondering what the best free recording software out there. I have used OBS and Shadow Play. Any advise.

Try the free version of XSplit Gamecaster. If you want to spend $50 then get Action recorder. IT IS WORTH IT!

Open broadcast software (OBS)
I use OBS Studio cuz it's better.

My personal favorite recording software is DXTORY. It works REALLY well once you set it up properly. With my potato computers I can record high quality 60 fps videos with almost no in-game FPS drops.

I use OBS Studio and love it. Simple to set up and run, and if I wanted to get into more detailed stuff, it really isn't that hard to do either.
