I wouldn't know... I'd say gaining subs should become easier the more subs and views you gain. If I had continued my channel I probably should have gotten their already.
You mainly want to get some videos with large views (over 50k ideally) these are the videos that will show up in search ratings and suggested videos. YouTube will pretty much promote these videos for you. As long as you have the correct tags, title and thumbnail etc. If you continue to create quality videos people drawn in by the "high view videos" will check out your new content and continue to watch your channel and possibly subscribe.
