Bandicam or Action are both good recording software but you need to buy the program.
I use to like ShadowPlay
Iv been using shadow play and OBS tho OBS is glitchy and shadow play isn't as good as it used to be. I might get the elgato HD pro for xmas

I use Action for recording, but it's been really crapping it's pants in the streaming department, so I am trying out OBS Studio for streaming only. I use the Elgato HD60S for recording (and even playing) console and it's perfect.

What's your specs Krazy?

What version of OBS? Classic or Studio

Has it always been unstable or is it only recently you've tried it.

Normally OBS runs very smooth for me, That's on both my i7 3770k and x5660 Xeon systems.

could just be an issue of trying to record at a bitrate that is too high for your system to cope with.

are you recording to the same drive your using to play your games from?

OBS has been having some issues lately with a lot of games when using game capture. When using monitor capture it has been perfect though.
