Messed up storyline = more views?

Recently, I've watched many animations done by youtubers (OneyNg, Flashgitz) and realized that animation like Racist Mario, which content gore, get more attention from viewers. Weird animation and animation with a deeper meaning like Salad Finger got a lot of views too.

So what do you guys think, messed up storyline = more views?

[I'm running an animation channel as well. So far, the content is all family friendly XD ]

It depends on how entertaining it is. Sometimes this turns out well and sometimes not but you could at least give it a try if that what picks your interest.
