Hello, everybody! SeeZisLab.com Team carry out experiments to support or break the myths on YouTube.

This time the name of our experiment is as follows: “Influence of author’s subtitles on ranking of videos in YouTube search results”. It will help us know, if it is reasonable to spend our time for creation of author’s subtitles or not?"

To carry out the experiment we needed 2 virtual machines, on each of them we simultaneously registered a YouTube account, and simultaneously created 2 channels on each account. To get more precise data, we made 10 pairs of videos. In each pair, files were identical as for their duration, bitrate and were uploaded with similar tags, titles and description. Videos were similar, but at the same time unique. They were uploaded to channels by pairs, and in each pair one video had author’s subtitles, and the other didn’t.

Immediately after uploading, we checked all positions of files in Youtube search results as for title and description. In Youtube search results, paired videos were located one after another. To construct graphs, those videos located higher in their pair were given 1 point, and those located lower – 0 points. In the result, all videos with author’s subtitles got advantage in search results against those files that didn’t have any subtitles.

The experiment was carried out for two weeks. Our Team have analyzed positions of videos in search results on a daily basis. After termination of this period, the situation did not change: author’s subtitles proved higher positions in search results.

So, this experiment by SeeZisLab has conveniently demonstrated that among videos with similar characteristics those having author’s subtitles get the advantage compared to those without subtitles.

even now I kinda dont understand what is those subtitles exactly, I think that means Im not using them xD
