How can I add background music to my commentary?

I've recently started my own youtube gaming and fitness channel and I'm just trying to get used to video editing, one of the problems I've come across is adding background music to my youtube videos without removing my commentary.
I would greatly appreciate some help in this matter.

I'm using windows movie maker atm because I'm just learning how to do all this hahaha

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I have a suggestion for editing software, if you're looking for free software. Try Lightworks. There is a free version for it. I use Lightworks to edit my videos. It works great for me so far. Here's their website:

Instead of windows movie maker you should download either light works or hitfilm express.
Hitfilm is probably your best option as it's free and has a lot of features. It's a non linear editor but it will only take about a week to get used to after switching from windows movie maker. It's not just an editor but also a VFX software. There's heaps of free resources and tutorials to get you started.
