Nice job summing it up, however I didn't quite catch your opinion.
Here's my opinion:
I know that the FBI is trying to catch this criminal to keep people safe but I have to side with Apple. I respect that they're standing up for their customers, the FBI is trying to put a criminal behind bars but at what cost with this method? The privacy of millions of iPhone users could potentially be put at risk of compromise, this has happened before (the iCloud leak) and the results were devastating. Also, if the FBI wins this case then other tech companies will be susceptible to the same thing. Apple is not only standing up for their customers, but for all tech consumers. Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and other major tech companies are getting involved to back Apple up, this is definitely an event to be remembered, regardless of the outcome.
