edit: I'm going to use it for gaming and I don't really care about brands as long as they're well known e.g benq, rog; looking for experiences as well

I'm using a $99 Acer monitior. 21.5 inch. Works well, no issues at all with it. But for 144hz, I'd go for the Asus VG248QE or the BenQ XL2411Z. Both are 144hz 1ms, and both have really good reviews.
