YouTube Are Total Views Lost After a Video is Deleted?

I want to remove a couple of videos from my channel, because I don't think they are up to my standard, but they have quite a bit of views. Will that mean that I will lose those views (in the total view count)

As you know you need 10k views to be able to be monetized, and I don't want to be set back 4 thousand views.

As far as I am aware yes once you delete a video the views for those video's are taken off your total number. You could always make them private, thereby keeping them hidden, as you feel they aren't up to your standard but you would still have the view total on your account
