I recommend Sony Vegas (number doesn't matter in the end , every version is pretty much the same). The software costs alot but you can crack it of course ( I do not recommend piratism even tho there's lots of tutorials about it on the internet , just look it up). After all the software you would need comes to personal preference but as far as I know there aren't any good free ones apart from windows movie maker. Hope this helped 
I use either Adobe Premiere Pro CC or Sony Vegas Pro (Version doesn't really matter but i use Sony Vegas Pro 12)
Well if your looking into the more free side of things I would say: Lightworks
If your looking into spending a little cash I'd say get Sony Movie Studio because its the best editor (in my opinion) for a cheap price around like $40 and it uses the same layout and effects as Sony Vegas. So maybe later on if you wanna upgrade to Sony Vegas you will have a familiarity of how to use it.

Sony Vegas Pro and Premiere are really good. Probably the best editing softwares out there.
I recommend wondershare filmora video editor its very cheap and has more features then sony vegas
