Having it monetized early as now won't hurt you. And I think yeah, you need adsense in order to get some ads rolling in your channel, I just forgot haha. Without the ads, you'll be earning nothing.

Yes in order to gain revenue from your video views, you need to have monetisation enabled through Google Adsense.
