With YouTube I have seen so many channels with amazing content, the problem here is who gets popular, and who drops to the ground. Some channels with amazing content have 100 subscribers, others with equally amazing content have 10,000. Then here is where it hurts, both of these people are trying extremely hard to grow, and then a third person working just as hard leaps ahead to 1,000,000 subscribers. These people all deserve the same amount of subs and even if they are all just as entertaining, hard-working, and worthy, there is a chance not one of them gets anywhere. Then after all this, sometimes thousands of hours of work, falling flat is really demotivating. When I hit 100 subscribers I felt like I owned the world, but the growth was slow and it almost didn't even feel like growth when all my comments came from people I requested to come give me a look. Then when I stopped doing this, the comments instantly stopped too, except for the occasional spam comments, automatically hidden. After all this I simply felt no need to prioritize the hobby and it became something in the background. YouTube is something I always have (and still want) to do, but it sucks when you get nowhere, it is really demotivating. IDK what the point of this post is, I just needed to rant, and idk, maybe i'll get back to YouTube as dedicated as I was in the summer, one day, but with all the difficulties, simply having endurance and motivation, is not enough, people are needed, people who watch your videos and comment are needed, support and a push is needed, and the random way YouTube shows people, prevents this...

I think that's why George's motto was always one of perseverance and determination in his never give up motto...

This hobby is actually incredible complicated... people just makes it look easy...

You have to learn to create compelling content.. it doesn't just happen. ..
I've been doing this for 3 years and I'm still learning stuff...

Content creators are like Jacks of all trades... most media companies would have specialist for each component ..

But we have to come up with the video, the audio, the thumbnails, the descriptions and titles, the SEO, social media, and "advertising" all by ourselves... on a budget!

To anyone who makes content, that is a freaking amazing accomplishment!

Kudos

I get what your saying, it's just that after doing so much for so long it gets harder and harder to find reasons to continue when there are no comments, low views, and low subscriber gains. There was a time where I'd get on to see a comment happily respond, but most of summer all my notifications were on Google+ communities 1upping my post or me commenting on someone else's video and getting a response. It's all fine and dandy, hitting 100 was one of the best days of my life, but now it grows harder and harder to want to dedicate time to recording, editing, rendering, making a thumbnail, editing and making a good description, tags, title, and the advertise it all, it is just tiring.
