Thread prefixes can be extremely useful in helping you and other people find relevant threads if utilized properly. This guide will teach you everything you will need to know about thread prefixes.

    1. Selecting a Thread Prefix

Although you must choose a prefix before creating your thread, you should make sure you choose correctly. This will expand interaction and exposure of your threads. When creating a new thread, you will be prompted with the text editor, which includes boxes for your thread title and your thread prefix.

The easy part is slamming a prefix on your thread, the hard part is that you must decide if the chosen prefix fits the thread created, otherwise, you risk losing potential exposure. For example, if someone were to click on the section "Fun and Games", go to your thread expecting some fun, but then realises it's about koalas, they will probably click away, even though Koalas are cute.

Why is this so bad? It is the equivalent of posting in the wrong section. Learn more on how effective prefixes can help you down below!

    2. Filtering Thread Prefixes

This part is what makes thread prefixes interesting. Having prefixes under a forum allows you to filter the threads in the forum and essentially see only what you want to see! For example, if you are a gamer and want to find gaming videos, the prefix "Gaming" can be filtered to enhance your results. Here's how you do it:
    1. Click "Thread Display Options" near the bottom of the page on any forum section (ie. "Introduce Yourself!")

    2. Select a prefix from the drop-down menu.

    3. Click "Set Options".

Congratulations! After setting your options, you should only see threads that have your selected prefix applied. Mindless searching was just cut in half!

Alternatively, you can filter prefixes by just clicking on a prefix when viewing a list of threads, doing so will apply a filter that only shows the selected prefix.
Now you are an expert with thread prefixes.
If you ever need some assistance on choosing the right prefix, feel free to ask one of the forum team, we promise we won't bite.
