2018 has been a great year, but when you take a hard look back, it has also been one full of sadness.

Back in January, the loss of Jon Paul Steuer, the former actor who played Alexander Rozhenko in Star Trek: TNG, as well as Simon Shelton who was a childhood classic actor for Teletubbies. February was no better, losing the oldest son of Fidel Castro (Fidel Angel Castro Diaz-Balart), as well as Dennis Edwards, the leader singer for The Temptations.

March
was the heavy hitter, after not only the loss of Bill Burkette, a wonderful singer for The Vogues, but also Sir Kenneth Dodd, Nokie Edwards and more notably, Stephen Hawking.

When we thought the worst of the storm had arrived, we were wrong. In April, Barbara Bush, mother of President George W. Bush and first wife of President George H. W. Bush died from heart failure at 92, Dale Winton, a wonderful TV host in many game shows such as In It to Win It and Supermarket Sweep died just 62, Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii was taken from us only aged 28 and Verne Troyer, the world's shortest actor aged 49.

May was a little bit more relaxing, not many major names however some that had some impact in the world, such as Steve Coy, the drummer and keyboard player for the rock group Dead or Alive, Margot Kidder, the actress for Lois Lane in three Superman movies, John Peter Bain, video game commentator also known as TotalBiscuit and Alan Bean, an astronaut who was aboard the Apollo 12 on the 2nd mission to land on the moon.

If you were a music fanatic, June was not the month to enjoy as Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy (nobody refers to him as that), also known as XXXTentacion was murdered, whilst EastEnders actor Leslie Grantham died aged 71. There were a few losses throughout July but not many may be recognised, such as Tab Hunter, Carlo Benetton, Roger Perry, Robert Wolders, Nancy Sinatra Sr. and Elmarie Wendel.

If you remember the song Sweet Home Alabama, then you will remember that Ed King, lead guitarist and bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd died aged 68, whilst a war hero and veteran John McCain, who was called a maverick inside of the Senate died aged 81, both in August.
September was a buffer from the rocky road ahead for the last quadrant of the year, with only one major loss which was Christopher Lawford, author, actor and nephew of President John F. Kennedy.

The tales of the Kennedy's does not end there because in October, the last ever handshake of Robert F. Kennedy before his assassination came from Juan Romero, who died of a heart attack aged 68. Other names include actor from The Walking Dead, Scott Wilson, as well as co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen.

Thought it couldn't get worse? Unfortunately, it could.. In November, the stage and voice actor for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Douglas Rain died aged 90, as well as comic book writer, editor and publisher, whilst also being the creative and business head of Marvel, Stan Lee, died aged 95. The cartoonist who wrote Spongebob Squarepants, Stephen Hillenburg died age 57, a day before the 41st President of the United States, 43rd Vice President of the United States, Member of the US House of Representatives and Lieutenant in the US Navy of WWII George H. W. Bush died aged 94.

And though December is still going (only just), we do have some names in this month to include, such as Coronation Street actor Peter Armitage, as well as lead singer and guitarist for the group Buzzcocks Pete Shelley.

Just to note, this isn't the entire list of celebrities we have lost this year, there are many more that could have been listed, but I have to keep this somewhat concise. Let's go into the new year with our heads up, but let's not forget the ones we lost.

Rest In Peace
