The credits are a currency to reward active members on the Forums for their contributions. You can get cedits by a few things, a few of which being:
- Reply to threads
- Make threads
- Get Likes on threads or posts
- Vote on Polls

Overall be active and contribute to the forums in a positive way and you'll get them quickly! Just as a heads up though; if you spam the forums you'll get them removed too

-Can they be used for anything?
They will be used to buy some minor cosmetical things in the near future; for example chat colors.
Just cosmetical things? I guess it's better than nothing but was expecting more XD
We'll have to see. At the moment I'm only aware of a Forum Profile Banner and plans of chat colors, though you can make a thread in the Suggestion Forum to maybe have an idea of yours getting heard.
